Showcasing Best Practices for an Age Friendly Workplace

This project, funded by New Horizons for Seniors Grant in 2020-2021, enhanced the business community’s awareness and understanding of older people’s contributions in the workplace. With involvement by a Seniors’ Advisory Committee, outreach was done to identify, develop and promote best business practices for employing 55+. More than 80 seniors volunteered to provide feedback as did 10 businesses on which standards for excellence were created.

A Business Excellence Award was developed to recognize Best Age-Friendly Business Practices for employers with age-diverse workplaces. 3- businesses were presented with this award in 2022: Business Excellence Award: Recruitment of Older Workers – Seniors for Seniors; Business Excellence Award: Attracting Older Workers – Moveability; and, Business Excellence Award: Retention of Older Workers – Bazaar Marketing.

A virtual ½ day Symposium was created with 5 knowledge experts. Videos were created of the Symposium highlights.
