OSSCO Faces of Aging

“I am not defined by my age.  My identity is shaped by my experiences, choices and life’s adventures.”

Steve Morgan is retired from an executive career spanning 40 years within the Alcoholic Beverage Industry.   He joined Bluegrass Distillers LLC as a Certified Bourbon Steward Tour Ambassador giving guests an engaging and informative tasting experience. A native of Kentucky, he appreciates Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey and Craft Beer. He shared his love of watching Heartland with OSSCO’s Executive Director, Elizabeth Macnab during a tour.  Steve is also a former beekeeper and home brewer.

OSSCO’s Lynne Cavanagh (right) joins Warkworth Lilac Festival tour guide, Ann (right) to experience this rural event. The 83 varieties of lilacs on the Millenium Lilac Trail had different flower petals including single and double blooms. Each lilac delighted with diverse colors, shades, and shapes. Surrounded by nature, the lilac fragrance was as unique as the varietals.! Some blooms had overlays of honey, or complex spices such as ginger, cinnamon, and vanilla while others filled the air with perfume.

Celia Chandler, a former lawyer in the non-profit and co-op housing sector, won a Canadian Online Publishing Award for her series on her husband’s medically assisted death in 2020. That kickstarted her writing. Since then, she’s won the 2024 Eden Mills Non-Fiction Contest, and been shortlisted elsewhere, including the Amy MacRae Award for Memoir and the Porter House Review 2024-2025 Editor’s Prize. She’s had work published in the Toronto Star and a number of literary journals. When she’s not working part-time for the Co-operative Housing Federation of Toronto, or delivering workshops about housing and law, Celia’s writing a book about mid-life reinvention called “Lane Change.” She writes a weekly blog from her Toronto laneway house.
