| The Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO) has released a summary report on Practice Models and Corporate Dentistry, which is a Strategic Project under the RCDSO’s 2023-25 Strategic Plan.
The report highlights core work and accomplishments coming out of the strategic project. Key outcomes of this work are five options that will allow the College to ensure high quality, professional oral health care can be provided regardless of the setting in which dentists’ practise. At its September meeting, RCDSO’s Council approved all five options, marking a step towards advancing care in a changing dental practice landscape.
The options include:
• Developing new guidance related to business practices in dentistry;
• Developing new guidance related to clinic oversight and continuity of care;
• Enhancing educational offerings for registrants and students;
• Proposing an Innovation Advisory Service pilot program; and
• Creating resources to support patient decision-making and registrants’ professional judgement.
Implementation will follow a phased approach over the coming years, with Council’s direction and input to be sought at various stages. |
